On November 24, 2010 the Formula team held a design review for alumni and sponsors. This gave the team the opportunity to share concepts and have the designs critiqued by the people that know best. The team would like to thank all those who attended and shared insight and experience.
At this point of the year the CAD model of the 2011 car is in the details stage. Addition of fasteners and mounting points are all that is required in the design stage.

Manufacturing has also stepped into full swing. The monocoque plugs that we sponsored by Magellan Aerospace in 2010 have been undergoing hand modification in order to have the new molds created by Carlson Engineered Composites over the Christmas break. This should give the team an extreme head start on the manufacturing compared to that of previous years.

Aside from the chassis, many of the other sections of the car are also continuing development. Titanium flex plates have began testing for the drivetrain joints, and analysis of the braking and upright systems is nearing completion and manufacturing should be starting in early January.

Finally, the team has decided on a name for the 2011 PBR Formula Car. “Annabelle” will soon become the newest member of the PBR family. As Isabelle’s little sister from 2010, the team expects Annabelle to be a little bit spoiled as the team had to learn so much through the struggles in creating Isabelle.

In all, this leaves the team is great shape moving forward into the New Year.Manufacturing should start to take speed and if all goes well the team can begin testing as soon as the snow melts.
