With the completion of midterm exams and a brief ease of workload from classes the Polar Bearing Racing Formula Team has been devoting most of their time to building the 2011 car. Lots of long nights have been investedĀ and the progress that has been made is leaving every member with a large smile on their face as the countdown of days till competition has made its way to the lounge whiteboard.

The chassis has been bonded together to form the front and rear components. After this was completed the front and rear halves were fitted together with some sanding to make the fit snug. The front and main roll hoops had been bent much earlier in the year so when the chassis was together there was not a second wasted to get the roll hoops in and bolted down. Roll hoop bracings were cut and notched, the harness bar put in, suspension holes were drilled and the very first A arms were put on the car on this past Saturday.

The uprights are due to be completed by the end of this week and the upright assemblies are ready to be assembled as soon as the uprights are in the shop. All the A arms have been welded, the rocker plates and bearing bodies have been machined and the steering rack assembly completed. The team has set a goal to have a rolling chassis by the middle of the week and is looking forward to making this goal a reality.
