The UMSAE Formula Team recently held their annual design review for the 2012 build seasons. Having completed the the initial designs for the 2012 car, it was a good time to showcase them to local industries. The feedback received from alumni and industry attending was useful and constructive and will benefit the team in their quest for a top place finish at competition.  The presentation began by presenting the teams goal for this year's vehicle:

"The goal of the 2012 Polar Bear Racing (PBR) Formula SAE team is to increase performance by reducing the vehicle weight to 460 lbs. Additionally implementing pro-active project management will ensure ample design preparation and one month of dynamic tuning prior to competition. These strides will give our team the opportunity to achieve PBR's highest results to date "

Currently the team is working hard to order all the required components and materials for manufacturing and required testing is underway. This includes composite samples for the chassis, composite pull rods for suspension and titanium flexural joints and composite axles for the drivetrain.

The team is eager to kick off the build season for what we all hope to be our most successful year yet.

Here is a first peak of what PBR 2012 will look like
